I'm sorry that I let the blogging community down by not posting for 2 months. A lot has happened in the time I last posted. I guess the biggest event was my engagement to Cristina. It happened on Dec 10. It was a total surprise (to her not me). Below is a pic on our engagement night.

I would post some thought provoking thoughts but I have to study.

Recipe for Disaster

Well my blogger friends have been getting on to me and that can only mean one thing- they are jealous of my great looks. They also seem to need an update. Yes it is true I haven’t updated in about 2 months but I’ve been busy. Right now there is some guy standing at the front of the room telling me stuff I should be able to recall in the form of a multiple choice question four weeks from now. Don’t go to med school.

The last time I thought about posting soundtech was doing a lot of recipes so I thought I would share one of my favorites.

Batchelor Dog
Items needed: Hotdogs, fork, ketchup, mustard, sink, and microwave.

1. Remove hotdog from fridge and cook in microwave for 45 seconds or to taste. (let it cool before you taste.)
2. Stick hotdog with fork (Cation hot) and walk to sink.
3. Add ketchup and mustard to taste.
4. Eat.
5. Rinse fork and sink.

There you go folks; if that doesn’t get your palate going you need your taste buds checked.

The following pictures are from my girlfriends parents place. We drove down to Poplarville to see how it was today. This is mainly a service to her other family members so it probebly won't make sense to most of you.

From what I saw things are pretty well down to Hattisburg. Then the number of trees on powerlines picks up. In some areas there are four or five down in one spot. This means that those guys won't be getting power for a while. The citizens seem to have their spirits up though. On the way out we saw two people on an overpass on inerstate 59 southbound holding an American flag and a sign that said thank you.

Please pray for the refugees from hurricane Katrina and support them in any way you can.

This is the pond by the Champane's. Cristina and I estimate that around 60% of the trees are damaged and 30% of those are completely uprooted as you see the 2 in the picture.

Perdita

This is a picture of Cristina's dog. She is also featured in my profile pic. Any way in this picture she is on drugs. Yeah I know it is sad. I put it up to alert all off you of the signs of doggie drugs.

1. Sudden change in friends.- There is this poodle that she would bark and bark at and then all of a sudden she is like,"Hey hows it going."
2. No intrest in any of their favorite activities.- She wouldn't play frisbee or catch fruit.
3. Inappropriate drooling.- Disgusting I know.
4. Inappropriate panting.
5. Unable to walk straight- Even though she has 4 legs she could hardly stand.
6. Sudden change in clothing.
7. Carrying large amounts of cash.

So those are the signs. She has recently completed Snoopy's Shape Up Rehab and is doing well.

A new year

So after vegging out at the beach for a week I have returned to start my second year at med school. Two Tuesdays ago I was swimming in the ocean, this past Tuesday I sat in lectures for about 6.5 hours. Blah. I miss the beach.

I knew that this year was going to be different, but it didn't hit me untill Friday night. I was eating with a friend of mine who had participated in a activity in one of our classes. We break into groups and go with a real doctor to see patients. (I have mine in 2 weeks.) Any way he said something that really worried me. "These people are f***ing sick." I wasn't worried because he cussed I was worried because he was right. Last year I learned about how the body worked and I could marvel at the design and the wonder. Know I am going to learn about what goes wrong and how to treat it. Not only that, I will from time to time see patients with the problems I am learning about.

When I started med school I said I wanted to help people feel better and I still do. But what about when there is nothing to do. People are going to die. It is inevitable and I don't know how I wil handel this.

I guess you guys need more background. Two years ago (the last year I lived in Starkville) we were like the most religious people ever. We went to Baptist Sunday school and service in the morning and Catholic Mass at night. Then we went to RCIA class on Wednesdays. In the end I decided to take a serious look at becoming Catholic. Why am I doing this? It is mainly for the girl. I do like the masses and many parts of the Catholic faith though. But I am not searching to fill any spiritual void in my life. I guess the real question is does God want me to do this. Unlike Ed’s cat I don’t have His email address. Technically I don’t need it though.

After NE I went to State for four years. I spent three finishing my chemical engineering degree. The last year I spent taking extra classes and applying to medical school. That’s right I applied to med school, and they let me in. So I have spent the last year at med school taking classes. While I was at state I met a girl. She is a vet student so she is still at state. We have been dating seriously for about 2 and a half years now. She is Catholic and I am considering converting. I am in the RCIA class right now. You guys are welcome to talk me out of it if you want. These are the days of my life. The major stuff anyway.

Some of you might be wondering about the name of my blog. I know it doesn’t compete with those nifty names like justbennett, naked worship, or diary of a gwenabee (whatever that is.) Let me explain. I had those cool names in my head. Like: Babbling Bobble head, Overflow, Tumbleweed, or Vicsveiw. But all those were taken. I started naming random stuff off my desk. I tried Lamp, Clock, Checkbook, and then finally TI85. Surprisingly it wasn’t taken. (For those who don’t know a TI85 is a calculator.) I was a little bummed. It just doesn’t have that ring. Then I thought about it for a while. It has been with me since high school(about 7 years). We have been through classes, batteries, and girlfriends. I have turned down “upgrades” and stuck with it and it has served me well. What better can I share this experience with? The posts will only get worse.
